Who runs the world? Girls! Will you join us in celebrating International Women’s Day 2021 on March 8th? A day dedicated to uniting women across the world in celebration of everything women have achieved and continuing to raise awareness for the change that needs to still happen.
This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge and it’s focused on calling out gender bias and inequality. We’ve come a long way, but there is still so much more to be done to achieve an inclusive world. Keep reading to see what we’ve been doing at Yours to start conversations, raise awareness and celebrate women.

How You Can Celebrate International Women’s Day
1. Celebrate With The Important Women In Your Life
Whether it’s your mum, family members or your girls, what better way is there to celebrate IWD with your favourite women. With virtual parties still very much a thing, why not organise a night-in with your girls, get dressed up, and chat about who empowers and inspires you. Let’s raise a glass together and hear it for the girls!
2. Show Your Support For #ChooseToChallenge
The theme of IWD 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. We’re all responsible for calling out and challenging gender inequality. From challenge, comes change. We can all work together to challenge bias, question stereotypes and fight for an inclusive world. Raise your hand on social media and use the hashtag to show you’re in! It’s down to us to continue important conversations about celebrating women and their achievements.
3. Celebrate With Some YOU Time
Girl, you’ve got through how many lockdowns?! We need to take a step back and look at our own achievements and how far we’ve come. Sometimes number 1 comes first. Have a cosy night-in and pamper session. Run yourself a bath, put on your favourite playlist and treat yourself to some self-love.
4. Donate Or Raise Some Money For A Women’s Charity
There’s many local women’s charities that need support! Why not organise a bake off with your girls or at work? All donations can be sent to amazing charities that support equality and women’s mental health. Make sure you show off what you get organised using the #ChooseToChallenge!
5. Include Everyone In The Conversation For Change
Whether this is in the workplace, at home or anywhere in your personal life, it’s time to start up conversations with both men and women about how we can encourage positive change around us. Listen and support the women around you. IWD is inclusive of all gender identities, so let’s get men talking about gender inequality and working together to the challenge for a more inclusive world.
Make sure you tag us in all your girl power pics and International Women’s Day activities using the hashtag #ThisIsYours as well as #ChooseToChallenge over on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and you might even get featured!
